Game lodge

Arrived at the Game lodge today and the ride was excellent. The tour guide was from Cape Town and stopped a little points on the drive. He explained the history of many provinces and gave a good amount of political commentary. I tried biltong which is similar to beef jerky. In my opinion not nearly as good. I am ok with a little chew on meat but this was ridiculous ! I had to chew way to long. The other thing I tried today was antelope. It was ok. I must try again to get a real feel for it. Lastly, I tried curried pickled fish. It was actually quite flavorful. I would not order it any time soon, but I will eat it again.

So I will leave this post with photos from the game reserve drive. This was amazing. I saw cheetah that just finished killing its prey. Animals and nature ... Spectacular !

I will also do a full post with photos from my camera when I get home.

Merry Christmas in Cape Town

Merry Christmas!!!

Made it to Cape Town. For Christmas met up with some friends for a few and had dinner. It was nice to be in place with so much sun for the holiday. I had on a sun dress. Yippee!

Mall and Sweats

I am leaving for my trip and I am running around trying to get last minute things. One thing that I delayed with getting was my plane outfit.

Plane outfit??? When I am flying a good distance, I need to be comfortable. Cute would be an extra bonus of I could achieve that also. Lol
Today I go to the mall and think it will be easy to find sweats or a velour pant suit. Not the case. So I leave the mall and I am discouraged. I go to Target and fail. Then Walmart comes the the rescue. I find all different colors and sizes.SCORE!! If only all the other things on my list could be gotten at Walmart.

I won and sweet potato fries

First thing first.... I won a ultimate pedicure. I am so excited. I love to have my feet done and right now, I can knock the winter off the toes and get them glammed up. I went to a holiday party with a friend and had a great time smiling and meeting new people. The back story on the pedicure is, that I actually won a hairstyle, cut and color. Well I have locs and I super particular about who does them and not into coloring my hair. Well at least not yet. When the raffle was happening, I whisper to my friend " We are not going to win and wouldn't be crazy if I won the haircut color and style because I cant keep that. Well right after I said that they call my name. My friend and I cracked up laughing. Luckily, a lady at the table had just won the ultimate pedicure. She looks at my face and asks if I want to trade. I said "of course."  So that is how I won the ultimate pedicure.

I do believe many stylist can style and maintain locs. However, I have gone to same stylist since I started my locs. She is the best I feel comfortable with her in my hair so I stick with her. :)

Now on to sweet potato fries. I went to lunch today and had a turkey melt. I had to pick between regular fries and sweet potato fries. I want to say I pick the sweet potato fries because they are healthy, but that is only about 35% of why I pick them. The main reason is because they are sweet and I love sweet things. Plus you add the sugar and cinnamon to the fries...Bliss!

Running shoes

In 2012, I plan to run a bunch. I really want to attempt to become a marathon runner. Not sure if I am cut out for it but I will try. I have signed up for a couple of runs in my area. I am running the Hot Chocolate 15k in February. It is supposed to be a great run and fondue at the end. Sounds yummy! I then will run a half marathon in March. It is called the Rock and Roll half. This makes me a little nervous. I mean short distances are not that bad but 13.1 miles. sheesh. However, I am determined to complete run a better time then when I ran a half 2 1/2 years ago.  This leads me to a very important things.....

SHOES!!

I need new running shoes. I have to be prepared, that is what I tell me self when I go shopping for these shoes. I actually want 2 pair. LOL because of course I will run in both pair. :)

Rainforest cafe

So I love food. I mean I plan my trips around the places I am goint to eat. It is insane. I always try a cupcake place if I fly to a US city. Because there is nothing like a good cupcake, unless their is creme brulee.

So back to the Rainforest cafe. I have seen the place several times and always wondered about it. It really looks cute from the outside so it must be great right??? Well it depends on what you think is great. The food was no so great. However, the scenary and atmosphere was super cute and makes you feel like a kid. The elephants, monkeys and lions dolls are super cute. Plus they make noise. I was a little disappointed that the food was blah. Better luck next time.

I am getting ready for my trip to South Africa. I am so excited. I am trying to make sure all is organized. Well sorta, because I am a last minute packer. I just visualize what I want to wear on each day. Then the night before I put it all together. It seems organized in my mind. Well until later

The first step

I have thought about blogging for a while. I supposed I was nervous or just did not know what to say. But, a new year is coming and "why not." I live in the south and I dislike snow. However, I love how snow looks. I mean who doesn't love the winter wonderland photos. I am always trying to travel when I can. I love fitness. Well if you call soccer fitness and me attempting to become a half marathoner. My eyes are always bigger then my stomach when I think about food. Boo on that .

Lastly, I will always have a spot in my stomach for creme brulee
